As a result of the adoption of a new vision statement for the American Truck Historical Society, there is an effort to translate these words into ideas and experiences. As we think about opportunities beyond a magazine and convention, we are looking at the possibility of something more experiential or immersive that could manifest as a library, archive, hall of fame and/or other.

The event showcased an impressive 875 trucks/trailers and welcomed thousands of spectators. "The York Expo Center provided an ideal venue for our event, allowing us to display a wide array of trucks, host vendor booths, and offer educational sessions, all within a convenient location," said ATHS Convention Manager Courtney Cesar.

over the three-day event. And ATHS welcomed around 7,000 spectators,” reported ATHS Convention Manager Lea Ann Reed.

Honorees included Leland James, founder of Freightliner Trucks; Earl and Lillian Congdon, founders of Old Dominion Freight Line; and Bill and Carolyn Moon, founders of the Iowa 80 Group.

Last week, the American Truck Historical Society (ATHS) hosted its annual National Convention and Truck Show in Springfield, Illinois. Over 700 trucks and more than 6,500 spectators filled the Illinois State Fairgrounds every day from June 9 to 11. Initially concerned about the high price of diesel and the aftermath of Covid, ATHS picked correctly when they set their sights on Springfield Illinois for 2022, particularly after the government shut the convention down in 2020.
